I love this tiny example of metaphor poetry. Can you picture the millipede's body and feet moving? Good poetry should help you to see the picture in your mind.
Moving her body with rippling progression,
Inviting each foot to join in the procession,
Creating a Mexican Wave with her feet
Is Milly the many-footed millipede.
Today we're going shopping
There is no time to lose
My daughter Milly's desperate
To go and buy new shoes.
We've had to save up hard to get
Enough money to use,
For Milly is a millipede;
She's many pairs to choose!
This is a silly word play poem that I wrote just to have fun with the insect names when I noticed that they each have another meaning. I used the insect names within phrases to make sentences, which is called word play.
